The Best Definition of “Public Relations” and “Marketing”

I recently came across an elegant definition of “public relations”: simply put, PR means getting someone else to vouch for you. It’s the art of developing “third-party validation,” as Frank Strong puts it.

Last night, I came across another succinct definition, this time, of “marketing.” According to Rishad Tobaccowala, marketing means “understanding and meeting customer requirements.” It’s the art of developing customer loyalty.

What do you think? Do these definitions work?
