How to Undermine Your Credibility in a Single Sentence

These situations all happened to me recently when talking with potential vendors.

1. Cancel a call with a prospective client shortly before it begins because you “need to run out for some errands.”

2. Follow-up with a potential client, who replies that he’ll get back to you in two months. You write back: “No worries — I’m too busy right now to take on additional work.”

3. Reply to only half of a prospective client’s questions.
